Patricia Lynne Auvenshine

Patricia Lynne Auvenshine, 75, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at Centegra Hospital- Huntley.

She was born Dec. 10, 1942, to Herbert and Winifred Clarkson in Chicago.

She loved people. She was always smiling and spent much of her life working in the hospitality industry. Retirement did not slow her down as she was involved with volunteering for many organizations including the Woodstock Ballet Studio, BraveHearts and the Community Resale Shop. She was a lifelong learner and never afraid of a challenge. She enjoyed animals, riding motorcycles and walking in the woods, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim (Randy) McLaughlin; two sons, Jim (Carie) Auvenshine and Brad (Sue) Auvenshine; grandchildren, Alex and Max Auvenshine and Randy and Sammy McLaughlin; long-time partner, Thomas Gillespie; and her dog, Lucky.

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece … but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, Whoo doggie! What a ride!’”  What a fabulous ride she had!

A memorial service will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary, Woodstock. At 6:15 p.m. there will be a time of remembrance by the family.

Memorial donations can be made to BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Educational Center, Harvard.
