Salvador Arias

Salvador Arias, 77, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Centegra Hospital. McHenry.

He was born Oct. 9, 1940, to Salvador and Juliana (Aguirre) Arias in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

On June 3, 1967, he married Ana M. Laguna.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. He was the oldest of 17 family members. He was a great role model, a man of his word, living his faith by example and always lending a hand to anybody who needed it. He enjoyed gardening and being with his dogs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was loved by all and he will be missed.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years; a son, Salvador (Christine) Arias; two daughters, Alex Arias and Laura (Jorge) Dorantes; five grandchildren, Carolina, Emily, Natalie, Sophia and Caleb; a great-grandchild, Parker; six brothers; four sisters; and 35 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; a grandson; and a nephew.

Visitation and the funeral Mass were Oct. 28 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Burial was private.

Arrangements were made by Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.
