Harry T. Johnson

Harry T. Johnson, 83, of Belvidere died Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017, at Northwoods Care Center, Belvidere.

He was born Oct. 23, 1936, to William Thomas and Gwendolyn (Farling) Hall.

On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Eldora Ruby.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a carpenter on the USS Oriskany. For more than 30 years, he worked as a lineman for ComEd. He was known as a skilled handyman who could do any home projects from woodwork to electrical. He always stayed busy but loved to relax with a book, especially mystery novels. He was also a history buff.

Survivors include: a son, Peter Johnson; three daughters, Pamela (Ray) Mazur, Kirsten Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; a brother, Larry (Ruth) Johnson; a sister, Linnea Johnson; three grandchildren, Felina Roark, Tessa Mazur and Kayla Mazur; and three great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Jack and Taylynn Erdman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and an infant daughter, Sarah.

Visitation and the funeral were Aug. 29 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Interment will be private.
