Catherine L. Reynolds

Catherine ‘Cathy’ Lee Reynolds, 64, Davenport, Fla., died March 2, 2012.

She was born Jan. 8, 1948, in Lompoc, Calif., to Thomas L. and Mary C. (Welch) Waters and grew up in Quincy. She married Ray E. Reynolds from Beach Park June 12, 1971, having met at Western Illinois University, Macomb, where each earned a master’s degree. They spent more than 40 years living in Oak Lawn, St. Charles and Woodstock before retiring and moving to Davenport in December 2009. They retired in 2005 from Woodstock School District 200. She was an early childhood speech therapist, retiring from Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center. She also worked several years as an audiologist at the Glen Ellyn Clinic and a speech therapist for the Geneva School District 304.

She played the piano and sang in numerous choirs including the First United Methodist Church, Woodstock. She enjoyed traveling, cake decorating and knitting. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and her husband’s best friend.

She was preceded in death by her mother and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include her father, Thomas L. (Joyce) Waters, Quincy; her husband; her son, Brian C. (Dawn) ReynoIds, Genoa; a daughter, Jennifer A. (Robert) Deacon, Woodstock; eight grandchildren, Briannah M. Reynolds, Christinah M. Reynolds, Phillip C. Mohr, Joshua D. Reynolds, Callie M. Deacon, KenLeigh R. Mohr, Ceri A. Deacon and Torin L. Deacon; a sister, Fran (Mike) Rhodes, Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, Thomas E. (Suzie) Waters, Jay J. (Lynn) Waters, and Jeff S. (Sandra) Waters, all of Quincy; two brothers-in-law John W. (Nancy) Reynolds, Beach Park, and Greg L. (Rhonda) Reynolds, Elburn; and close personal friends of 42 years, Brian and Debbie Shelor, Kissimmee, Fla., and Ron and Shirley Hainds, Jacksonville.

A family viewing was held at the Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Fla. March 6, followed by cremation. A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the First United Methodist Church, 201 W. South St., Woodstock.
