Thomas Dale Stewart

Thomas Dale Stewart, 85, Woodstock, died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock.

He was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Chicago, to Albert and Eleanor Wheeler.

On April 27, 1956, he married Regina Slattery in Chicago.

From 1970 until 1984, he and his wife owned and operated Stewarts Cleaners in Woodstock.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. 

He was a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge.

He enjoyed camping with his family and his retirement years in Arizona and Florida.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis Stewart and Dan (Michelle) Stewart; three daughters, Denise Brown, Donna (J.W.) Rice and Dale (Barry Vermett) Stewart; five grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Hamilton, Tony (Jessica) Brown, Brandy Brown, Hunter Stewart, Konrad Stewart and Talia Stewart; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton, Casey Brown and Hayden Brown; and a sister, Edith Nimsgern.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters; Jesse Barber, Harry J. Stewart, Lee W. Stewart, Ralph D. Stewart, Russell H. Stewart, Ada Townsend and Mary Hallen; a son-in-law, Timothy Brown; and a son, Donald Stewart, in infancy.

The memorial gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, until the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.

A private burial will take place at a later date in Richmond Township Cemetery.
