Carl C. Ohlrich

Carl C. Ohlrich, 78, Woodstock, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.

He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Woodstock, to Wilbert C. and Faye (Gates) Ohlrich.

On Oct. 19, 1957, he married Marilyn Smith in Johnsburg.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock.

He worked as a masonry contractor for many years, eventually becoming a building inspector for McHenry County. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; two daughters, Sandi (Scott) Thurnau and Terri (Mike) Hildreth; a son, Tom (Sherry) Olrich; five grandchildren, Ricky, Erica and Megan Hildreth, and Karlee and Eric Ohlrich; and a sister, Wilna Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation was held May 29 at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.

A funeral Mass was held May 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.
