Richard Joseph Sivewright

Richard Joseph Sivewright, 76, Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Chicago to Joseph Edward and Florence Parquette Sivewright.

He grew up in Woodstock, attended Michigan State University and spent more than 30 years in the restaurant business.

He worked for Fred Harvey Restaurants at Chicago’s Union Station and at Kentucky Fried Chicken, where he was vice president and general manager for 20 years. He was appointed an honorary Kentucky Colonel.

He also was a member of the Charlotte County volunteer police, was an avid boater and enjoyed fishing.

He moved to Port Charlotte seven years ago, from the Maryland Eastern Shore.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carol Lee Sivewright; two sons, Joseph (Susie) Sivewright, St. Louis, Mo., and Michael (Leslie) Sivewright, Atlanta; two daughters, Elizabeth (Dean) Maxwell, Macomb, Mich., and Amy (Ben) Peter, Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Caroline (Glenn) Warren, Robert, John, Benton, Charles, Gracie, Bryce and Bridget; and a great-granddaughter, Peyton Peter.

Arrangements were made by Paul Schelm Funeral Home, Lazy Suzy, Fla. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
