Donald J. Wieder, 69, Woodstock

Donald J. Wieder, 69, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at home surrounded by his family, after battling cancer since 2012. 

He was born Dec. 31, 1946, to George and Agnes (Urban) Wieder in Chicago. 

On May 16, 1970, he married Bernadette Downes.

He was from the South Side of Chicago. He attended Kelly High School and Walton College. He worked in accounting for 50 years, and he served in the National Guard from 1967 until 1972. 

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. He enjoyed the outdoors, and playing and watching sports. He was happiest spending time with his family and friends. He was known by them to be a very loving and kind man, and he will be dearly missed. 

Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald James Wieder; a daughter, Beth Marie Coronado; four grandchildren, Justina, Angelina, Julius and Frankie Coronado; two brothers, Ray (George) Wieder and George Wieder; a sister-in-law, Kay Crouch; two brothers-in-law, James and Daniel Downes; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Downes. 

The visitation and funeral Mass were held Jan. 25 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Interment was private. 

Memorials can be made to lung cancer research.
