Michael A. Reed

Michael A. Reed, 67, Douglas, Wyo., died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 1, 1949, to John O. and Jean (NIckels) Reed, in Woodstock. 

On Nov. 15, 1991, he married Teresa Verley.

Mike attended St. Mary Catholic School and was a 1967 graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School, where he had perfect attendance. 

 He attended DeVry University, Chicago, and then went into the U.S. Air Force and served for nine years, seven in England. 

After returning from service, he started working for the Chicago & North Western Railroad and later as an engineer in Wyoming as the company became the Union Pacific. He worked for Union Pacific until his retirement. Survivors include his mother; his wife; a daughter, Ashley Reed; three sons, Michael, Tony (Sarah) and Brian (Kristen) Witbrod; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Rebecca), William and David (Darla) Reed; two sisters, Peggie (John) Byard and Mary (Mike) Hoyt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; his aunt, Marie Nickels; and two sisters-in-law, Rachel (Castillo) Reed and Dr. Dorothy (Dionne) Reed.

A memorial was private with family in Wyoming.
