Scott Ray Thurnau

Scott Ray Thurnau, 58, Woodstock, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at JourneyCare Hospice-Woodstock.

He was born Sept. 21, 1958, to Elroy Ray and Audrey Rae (Merchant) Thurnau.  

On May 11, 1985, he married Sandra Kay Ohlrich at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock.

Scott was born in Woodstock but grew up in Dundee. He was fascinated by genealogy and the history of Dundee, making many trips to the Dundee Historical Society. He was a collector of various artifacts and had a passion for nostalgic items. 

He enjoyed music and played the guitar, piano, harmonica, and banjo. He also enjoyed watching old cartoons. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with his friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Sandi Kay Thurnau; a brother, Jeffrey Ray (Carrie) Thurnau; three nieces; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation and funeral were April 21 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.  Burial was in Memorial Washington Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery, Elgin.

Memorials can be made to the Woodstock Fire and Rescue Squad or to JourneyCare Hospice.
