Marian Central wrestlers kicked off their 2017-18 season with a tournament title.
The Hurricanes went 7-0 at the Carmel Corsair Holiday Team Tournament at Carmel in Mundelein with wins over Lake Forest (47-21), St. Patrick (76-6), Carmel (65-6), Waukegan (59-18), North Chicago (66-12), Richmond (65-12) and Christian Life (54-24).
Seniors Luke Silva, 160-pound weight class, and Anthony Randazzo, 132, each passed the 100-win mark at the tournament.
Hurricanes Elon Rodriguez, 106, Daniel Valeria, 126, Bryce Shelton, 126, Anthony Randazzo, 132, Kaden Randazzo, 145, Dylan Connell, 152, Silva, 160 and Joey Fitzgerald, 170, all finished the tournament 7-0 individually.
Head coach David Silva said his wrestlers treat every match as a new challenge.
“Even after a dominating performance like this past weekend, there are things we can do to improve,” Silva said.
