Mary Ann Mass, 89, Woodstock, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 29, 1928, to Leo and Clara (Diedrich) Regner in Volo.
On Nov. 6, 1948, she married Frank J. Mass in Volo.
She and her husband had numerous business enterprises. They operated the Lamplighter Motel in Woodstock for 20 years; they built and operated the Timbers Restaurant for many years; the Colonial Motel and Restaurant, and the Rose Ann apartment complex in Elgin; and many other rental properties in and around Woodstock.
She was a very loving and generous person and was dedicated to her family and her church. She was a longtime volunteer and served in many capacities at St. Mary Church, Woodstock, including the weekly morning mass coordinator, directing the cleaning of the church and serving the Sacristan, making certain the linens and vestments were always clean.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret (George) Cangialosi; grandchildren, Carrie (Darrin) Ficher, Diana Collins, Ken (Valerie) Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Katie, Jameson, Jaiden, Jacob and Alexander; a sister, Theresa Tonyan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1995; a daughter, Carol Carlisle; a sister, Rosie Miller; a brother, Alfred Regner; and two grandsons, Robert and Timothy Carlisle.
A visitation and funeral Mass were held Oct. 26 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.
