The recent death of a 3-year-old girl from Woodstock is being investigated by authorities.
Police and emergency crews responded to the 500 block of Central Parkway in Woodstock at 10:48 a.m. Sept. 29, according to Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Chief Michael Hill. A child was transported from the home and eventually taken via Flight for Life to Lutheran General Hospital.
She died at the Park Ridge hospital Oct. 2, according to the Woodstock Police Department. A death investigation is ongoing, Police Chief John Lieb said.
The McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team is assisting with the investigation, and results from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office are pending, according to Lieb.
“The loss of life of a young child is deeply saddening, regardless of the situation. With that, we are exercising a lot of diligence in ensuring all the agencies involved in this open investigation have a coordinated conclusion on the circumstances of the child’s death,” Lieb said.
Lieb would not comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.
