A 20-year-old Wonder Lake man is in critical condition after he crashed his motorcycle while attempting to pass multiple cars in unincorporated Woodstock, authorities said.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Police Department crews responded to a call the morning of Sept. 9 for a motorcycle and vehicle crash.

Around 7:26 a.m., the driver of the motorcycle was headed eastbound on Route 120 east of Raffel Road when he attempted to pass a line of cars and crossed over a double-yellow centerline, according to a press release from MCSO.

The press release stated the motorcyclist collided with a 2002 Buick making a left turn into a parking lot.

“The driver of the motorcycle had life-threatening injuries and was ejected off of the bike,” WFRD Captain Brendan Parker said.

The driver of the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was transported via Flight for Life to Condell Hospital in Libertyville, according to Parker.

At press time, the man remained in critical condition.

The driver of the Buick, a 24-year-old female from Woodstock, was not injured and had no passengers, according to the release.
