The Woodstock High School boys soccer team moved to a flawless 7-0 season record after capturing a tournament championship Aug. 26.
The Blue Streaks opened their season with a home game played on Larry Dale Field Aug. 22 against Woodstock North, defeating their crosstown rival 5-0.
On Aug. 23, the Streaks defeated conference rival Harvard 4-0 at home, hosted at Emricson Park.
The team took their momentum on the road to Oregon to compete in the Oregon Hawk Classic tournament Aug. 25 and 26.
The opening game of the tournament for the Streaks was against Schaumburg Christian, which ended in a 4-0 victory for Woodstock.
The championship game was a 2-1 victory over Princeton. WHS scored in both halves. Princeton’s score came late in the first half on a direct free kick.
Senior Josue Carreno leads the team with nine goals and four assists on the season. Caleb Warmbier has two goals and eight assists.
As of Aug. 28, the Streaks had a positive goal difference of 28, with 29 goals scored and only one allowed by opponents this season. The team will travel to Burlington to battle Burlington Central Tuesday, Sept. 5.
