Part of Bull Valley Road will be closed after Labor Day, detours will be in place

Road construction has started on two major roads in Bull Valley and will continue through the fall.

On Aug. 21, crews began working on Bull Valley and Crystal Springs roads. Both roads will remain open while work is ongoing, but drivers should plan for construction delays, according to Village President Emily Berendt.

Beginning after Labor Day, Bull Valley Road will be closed west of Valley Hill Road while a bridge over Boone Creek is resurfaced. Traffic will be detoured around the bridge via Valley Hill, Mason Hill, Country Club and Fleming roads. This portion of construction is slated to last about two weeks.

The project covers about 5.73 miles of roadway in total. The project is funded by $2.9 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation and a 20 percent match from the village — about $570,000.

“We are extremely pleased that these much-needed projects, originally scheduled for the year 2020, were advanced to this year,” Berendt said.

The targeted completion date for the roadwork is Oct. 31.
