Residence was fully engulfed by the time fire crews arrived
An overnight fire in rural Woodstock claimed an abandoned residence Aug. 18.
A passerby noticed the blaze and called fire crews to 4001 Doty Road at around 11:15 p.m., according to Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Captain Karen Bush.
WFRD crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames and requested assistance from neighboring agencies. In all, 18 agencies responded to the call. Crews remained on the scene until around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 19 battling the flames.
There are no fire hydrants in the area, so water was trucked in.
Because the residence was abandoned, no one was displaced due to the fire. There were no injuries, according to Bush, and no neighboring buildings or property were damaged in the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There is no estimate as to the cost of the damage at this time, Bush said.
