A Wonder Lake man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident in unincorporated McHenry July 9 that left a pedestrian seriously injured.
Alexsandro J. Tackett, 22, was charged July 9 with leaving the scene of an injury accident, a Class 4 felony; and failure to report an injury accident, a Class 2 felony.
According to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Tackett was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu at around 2:23 a.m. when he allegedly struck a man near the edge of the roadway in the 3000 block of Lincoln Road near Emily Lane. Tackett is accused of leaving the scene; he was found by sheriff’s deputies elsewhere in McHenry, the release said.
The victim, a 48-year-old man from McHenry, was taken to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock and subsequently flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was in stable but critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
Tackett was the only person in the car at the time of the accident, and no airbags deployed in the Malibu, police said. Tackett was not injured in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing by the MCSO’s Major Crash Investigation Unit. Members of the McHenry Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Tackett’s next court date is set for July 26.
