Two Wonder Lake men are among a group of four people charged in connection with a murder and home invasion that took place last month in unincorporated McHenry.
Jared J. Fox, 25, and Byron Howard, 36, both of Wonder Lake; Charles A. Campo, 31, McHenry; and Adam Morris, 44, McCullom Lake, were arrested and charged with one count each of first-degree murder, home invasion and residential burglary, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The four are accused of murdering Donald Jouravleff, who was shot May 27 in his home in the 1800 block of West Davis Avenue in unincorporated McHenry.
Deputies were called to Jouravleff’s home at around 1 a.m. that morning, the sheriff’s office said. Jouravleff died of his injuries later that day. A preliminary investigation indicated two masked men were responsible for this shooting, police said.
Fox was arrested June 14, Campo was taken into custody June 15, and Morris and Howard were arrested June 16, according to the sheriff’s office.
“I want to publicly thank all the officers involved in this investigation for their tireless efforts in bringing this case to a final resolution,” Sheriff Bill Prim said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office called the crime “a targeted incident” and said there is no increased threat to the general public related to the murder.
The investigation by the sheriff’s office, the McHenry Police Department and the McHenry County Investigation Assistance Team is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to call the MIAT tip line at 815-363-2201. Callers can remain anonymous.
