A Metra train struck and killed a 35-year-old woman in Woodstock April 27.

Personnel from the Woodstock Police Department were dispatched at 2:05 a.m. According to WPD, the responding officers found the victim deceased on the tracks near 508 Lake Ave. Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, Union Pacific and Metra police also responded.

“Our investigations division continues to investigate the incident,” said WPD Deputy Chief Jeffrey Parsons. “Based on video surveillance evidence and other evidence gathered near the scene, the victim was alone at the time of the incident, and there is no reason to believe foul play exists.”

According to a press release from WPD, the victim was struck by a Metra commuter train traveling westbound from Chicago to Harvard. At press time, the identity of the victim had not been released by the McHenry County Coroner’s office.

“We continue to work with the McHenry County Coroner’s office on this incident,” Parsons said.
