Two men were arrested in unincorporated Wonder Lake in connection with a burglary at a grocery store.
Tim R. Cotten, 26, Shawano, Wis., and Christopher L. Martin Jr., 19, Lake Villa, each were charged with burglary, a Class 2 felony; retail theft, a Class 3 felony; and possession of burglary tools and criminal damage to property, Class 4 felonies.
Deputies from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at 3:17 a.m. April 21 at Village Market, 3410 Thompson Road. When they arrived, they found the building had been forcibly entered, but no one was inside.
Deputies noticed cash and cigarettes were missing from the store, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Cotten and Martin were found by police hiding in the vicinity of Village Market, allegedly with the stolen cash and cigarettes in their possession, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The men were taken to the McHenry County Jail, where their bonds were set at $40,000.
Cotten’s next court date is set for May 5. Martin’s next court date is May 16.
