A London man who reportedly told authorities he thought he was being filmed for a movie allegedly led police on a multi-jurisdictional car pursuit in a stolen dump truck April 7.

Rahman Sidhekur, 28, of London, England, was charged by Woodstock Police with aggravated fleeing and eluding, a Class 4 felony.

The pursuit in Woodstock started at Route 47 and Ware Road, after Woodstock officers began tracking Sidhekur because the 1996 GMC 2500 he was driving was reported stolen and involved in a hit-and-run accident in Fox Lake.

“A witness to an auto accident which occurred in Fox Lake saw him leave the scene,” said Fox Lake Police Chief Russell Laine.

“The driver of the offending vehicle was going westbound in the eastbound lane and hit another car head-on. We learned later that the vehicle had been reported stolen to Lake County Sheriff’s Department,” Laine added.

WPD officers followed the truck through Woodstock into Crystal Lake, ending their pursuit at the intersection of Routes 176 and 31, according to WPD Deputy Chief Jeffrey Parsons.

Sidhekur eventually was arrested by Crystal Lake police, who found him at a car dealership, Parsons said.

No injuries were reported.

Sidhekur told the Crystal Lake officer who took him into custody that he did not stop for police because he believed he was being filmed for a movie, Parsons said.

According to court records, Sidhekur faces charges stemming from the incident from other area police departments, including another count of aggravated fleeing, criminal trespass to a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, speeding 21 to 25 mph over the speed limit, disregarding a traffic control light and improper lane use.

Fox Lake police are continuing to investigate, Laine said.

Sidhekur was transported to McHenry County Jail. He remains in custody on $80,000 bond. He is due in court April 27.
