The Woodstock High School Blue Streaks struck down the Woodstock North Thunder 60-49 on the Thunder’s home court Jan. 24.
Fans from both schools packed the student sections of the stands. The Blue Streaks cheering section was appropriately a sea of blue, and Thunder fans sported beach wear.
Evan Bridges, a WHS sophomore, led his team to victory, tying his career high with 18 points, and shooting 5-for-6 from the 3-point line. Matt Shook contributed 12 points. Mike Gardner had seven points, six rebounds and six assists.
“The crosstown game is always a fun atmosphere. I was proud of our team effort. We had a lot of different guys contribute to the win on both ends of the floor,” said WHS coach Al Baker.
WHS moved to 7-15 on the season and travels to Kishwaukee River Conference rival Harvard Thursday, Feb. 2. WNHS is at 4-12 on the season and faces nonconference rival Sycamore at home Friday, Feb. 3.
