The McHenry County College Forensics Team placed second in Community College Junior Varsity and fifth in Open Varsity for Team Sweepstakes at the Frank-ly Speaking Tournament at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn Jan. 23.

One of the successful team members is Wonder Lake resident Dylan Eddy.

He placed second in Dramatic Interpretation (JV), fifth in Prose Interpretation (V) and fifth in Duo Interpretation (JV).

Woodstock resident Bonnie Gabel is the MCC forensics coach.

“Dylan came to us as a raw talent and due to his drive and hard work, he has really developed into an outstanding communicator,” she said. “He excels as a storyteller by creating dynamic, memorable characters that move audiences through their humanity and humor.”

Eddy went on to win more awards Feb. 6 at the Showdown in the Heights Tournament at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights. He placed first in Dramatic Interpretation. The team as a whole placed first in Quality Team Sweepstakes and second in Team Sweepstakes.

Gabel said,” I was proudest of the team’s recognition as top in quality. MCC may be a smaller school but they are huge when it comes to quality.”
