D-200 raises Kids Club fees ELIZABETH HARMON - The Woodstock Independent
Registration and daily fees for Woodstock School District 200's Kids Club after school/day care program will increase for the 2010-2011 school year.
The board approved the new fee schedule at its meeting Feb. 23.
"We wanted to get the information out as early as possible," said D-200 Superintendent Ellyn Wrzeski.
Registration fees for families not receiving public aid will increase 8.3 percent to $65 per child. Daily fees for children ages 2 to 3 will increase 5.8 percent to $28 for less than five hours of care and $36 for more than five hours of care.
Daily fees for children ages 4 to kindergarten age will increase by 7.7 percent to $22 for less than five hours of care, $28 for five to eight hours of care and $35 for more than eight hours of care.
"In the past we didn't have an eight-hour program for the 4 to kindergarten age but with the economy and the demands of parents' jobs we saw there was a need," said Mark Heckmon, D-200 associate superintendent for human resources and operations.
Fees for school-age children will increase 5.8 percent to $54 for three days a week, $72 for four days a week and $90 for five days a week.
Registration fees for public aid recipients will not change, and families will pay the monthly co-pay for approved days and Kids Club full rates for public aid non-assisted days.
The increases were needed to cover the increased costs of salaries and materials. The Kids Club program does not receive district funding and must operate as an independent business.
"It's not easy to run a day care program for profit or even just to break even," said Wrzeski.
Kids Club programs operate at Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center, Dean Street Elementary School, Westwood Elementary School, Greenwood Elementary School, Mary Endres Elementary School, Prairiewood Elementary School and Olson Elementary School.
