IHSA announces football playoff pairings


It's official. Both the Marian Central Hurricanes (7-2) and the Woodstock Blue Streaks (6-3) are headed to the IHSA state football playoffs this weekend and will play their first round games in Woodstock.

The 'Canes will face Belvidere High School (5-4) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at George Harding Field in their first-round matchup. Marian Central is seeded at No. 4, while Belvidere is the 13th seed. The Hurricanes' .759 winning percentage, 44-14 playoff record and four state titles is the best among area teams in the playoffs this season.

The Streaks will match up against Chicago's Orr High School (6-3) at Larry Dale Field at 7 p.m. Friday in another first-round game. WHS is seeded seventh while Orr is the No. 10 seed. WHS traditionally has been a strong playoff team. The Streaks have a .585 winning percentage, a 24-17 playoff record and two state titles to their name.
