Mildred 'Millie' Kanneberg
Mildred "Millie" Kanneberg, 92, Woodstock, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at her home in Woodstock.
She was born July 29, 1917, in Chicago, to William and Ida Gridley Sr. She met Lester J. Kanneberg at a dance at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, and they were married Sept. 4, 1944, in Chicago.
She was a longtime resident of Woodstock. She worked at the McHenry County Courthouse in the Office of the Circuit Clerk for 28 years. She was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church, Woodstock.
She belonged to several women's circle groups and a couples' card club.
After she retired, she traveled around the world with her friends to many destinations, including Europe, Africa, South America, China and Alaska.
She enjoyed family gatherings around holidays and special occasions.
Survivors include a son, Roger Kanneberg; a daughter, Sue (Arthur) Clemens; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Jaclyn Clemens, and Kirk, Mark, Justin and Krista Kanneberg; nine great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, William "Buzz" Gridley Jr.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at First United Methodist Church, 201 W. South St., Woodstock. A gathering and fellowship will take place in the fellowship hall after the service. Burial will be private.
