Gene Howard Miller

Gene Howard Miller, 80, Woodstock and formerly of Rockford and Chicago, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010.

He worked for Illinois Central Railroad, Union Special Corporation and Intermatic Inc., Richmond. He was active in the Boy Scouts, the Republican Party and served in the National Guard.

He and his wife, Lois Jeanne (Fickes), traveled extensively throughout their 50-year marriage, including three ocean crossings on the Queen Elizabeth II. They enjoyed their many pets and were members of First United Methodist Church, Woodstock.

Survivors include his wife; his aunt, Margaret Rose; his brother, James Miller; two nephews, Brad and Michael Miller; and his sister-in-law, Rosemary Harvey.

Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois.
