Georgella Byerly

Georgella Byerly, 85, Woodstock, formerly of Las Vegas and Aurora, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born July 19, 1924, in Fargo, N.D., to George and Carrie (Holden) Lieb. She married the love of her life, Francis Byerly, April 15, 1950, in Ortonville, Minn.

She was a homemaker and a volunteer for many organizations throughout her life. Most recently she was a member of the Woodstock Professional & Business Women and a founding and former board member of the Friends of the Opera House. She loved being with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Cary Sue (Dale) Lavan, Woodstock, Lee Byerly, Las Vegas, and Mary (Deb) Byerly, Tamarindo, Costa Rica; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Margery; her parents; four siblings; and a nephew.

A celebration of her life will be planned in early summer.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials can be made in her name to either Season's Hospice, Des Plaines; the Friends of the Opera House, Woodstock; or the American Cancer Society.
