Loretta M. Stemper

Loretta M. Stemper, 87, Woodstock, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Centegra Specialty Hospital-Woodstock.

She was born May 16, 1922, in Chicago, to Emil and Elizabeth (Solomon) Pankratz. She married Nicholas Stemper Nov. 16, 1946, in Chicago.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Her daily routine included prayers and Bible readings. For many years, she worked at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock as a receptionist. She volunteered for Meals On Wheels. She loved to play bridge with her friends and to take long walks in the woods. She and her family vacationed for many years on Pelican Lake in Orr, Minn.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Patrick Stemper; two daughters, Lizbeth (Dr. Kenneth) Albrecht and Linda (Donald) Fruland; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Domschke, Michelle (Dan) Brunsvold, Bradley Albrecht, Ashley Albrecht, Nicole (Lou) Leone, Christopher (Tammy) Wolf, Caitlin Stemper and Ian Stemper; five great-grandchildren, Riley Domschke, Nicholas Domschke, Andrew Brunsvold, Conner Wolf and Baby Leone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; a son, Nicholas Stemper; and a daughter, Janice Stemper.

Visitation and funeral Mass were Dec. 21 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Burial was private.
