Yvonne M. Pedigo
Yvonne M. Pedigo, 67, Woodstock, died April 29, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Woodstock, to Arnold J. and Dorothy (Schultz) Huff Sr.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church, Woodstock. She was a dedicated and loyal employee of the State Bank of Woodstock for 48 years. She was an avid reader, jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed occasional trips to the casino. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include brothers and sisters, Arnold J. Huff Jr., Woodstock, Beverly (Harold) Lilja, Woodstock, Gerald Huff, St. Petersburg, Fla., Linda Huff, Woodstock, and Keith (Renee) Huff, Woodstock; three nephews, Mark Huff, Woodstock, Scott (Kathleen) Lilja, Elgin, and Jordan Huff, Woodstock; three nieces, Lori (Thomas) Tapaninen, Regina Heidenreich and Hannah Huff, all of Woodstock; great-nieces and -nephews, Emily Heidenreich, Abigail Heidenreich, Jacob (Jennifer) Cundiff, Jonathan (Kimberly) Cundiff and Jeremiah Evanoff; and a great-great-niece, Alulah Cundiff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Robert Grammer.
Visitation was May 4 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The funeral Mass was May 5 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock, with the Rev. Max Lasrado officiating.
Interment was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Woodstock.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or to the American Cancer Society.
Gerald Michael Donahue
Gerald Michael Donahue, 85, Woodstock, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 3, 1922, in New Albin, Iowa, to Michael and Mary (Hill) Donahue. He married Geraldine Dwyer.
He was the owner and operator of the Donahue Furniture Store, Woodstock, which he opened in 1950. He was very active in the community. He was president of Easter Seals, a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and chairman of the board of Rolling Meadows Bank and Plum Grove Bank.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 and served for three years. He was in the 13th Air Force as a tail gunner on a B-25 and flew 54 missions throughout the South Pacific in his plane called the Miss Frontier. His medals included four Bronze Stars, a Ruptured Duck and a Screaming Eagle. When discharged in 1943, he was a three-star corporal.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gerald (Rose) M. Donahue Jr., Hood River, Ore., John (Denise) Donahue, Woodstock, James Donahue, Minnesota, and David (Rhonda) Donahue, Woodstock; three daughters, Sarah (Edward) Schaefer, Plum Tree Estates, Mariella (Don) Kleinschmidt, Woodstock, and Lynn (Phil) Stewart, Woodstock; 20 grandchildren, Ivan Donahue, Brendan Donahue, Lauren (Brogan) Houtz, Sean (Johanna) Donahue, Mollie (Tom) Stark, Brian Donahue, Katie Schaefer, Collin Doyle, Jenny Schaefer, Amy Sue Schaefer, Ryan (Jenny) Kleinschmidt, Heidi Kleinschmidt, Julie Kleinschmidt, Kelly Strohm, Jacqueline Strohm, Jeff (Natalie) Stewart, Kerri (Rob) Johnson, Scott (Bonnie) Donahue, Patrick Donahue and Megan Donahue; 10 great-grandchildren, Finnegan, Connor, Abigail, Claire, William, Nathan, Olivia, Grace, Michael and Emma; a sister, Marian Lager; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan Donahue and James Donahue; and a sister, Eileen Bimrose.
Visitation and the memorial Mass were May 6 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock, with the Rev. Robert Jones officiating. Interment was private in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Woodstock.

Elnor M. Thurow
Elnor M. Thurow, 90, Woodstock, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock.
She was born May 20, 1917, in Woodstock, to Fred and Marie (Mollenbrink) Rahn.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. At the church, she was involved with Sewing Circle and Naomi Circle and the prayer circle.
She retired from Arnold Engineering after working many years as a secretary and bookkeeper.
She was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing and making crafts, and all her projects were given away for others to enjoy.
Survivors include three sons, Kirby (Barbara) Thurow, Elgin, John (Audrey) Thurow, Crystal Lake, and Joseph (Kris) Thurow, Osseo, Wis.; a daughter, Meredith (Andy) Osvalds, Woodstock; eight grandchildren, Mark Thurow, South Elgin, Lynda Thurow, Elgin, Michael Thurow, Chicago, Faith (Jeffrey) Tomlin, Crystal Lake, Matthew (Sarah) Thurow, Crystal Lake, Jason Mast, California, Samuel Osvalds, Hammond, Ind., and Andrew Osvalds, Chicago; three step-gandchildren, Chris (Brenda) Osvalds, Joliet, Robert (Lora) Osvalds, Streamwood, and Jason (Suzanne) Biel, Hawaii; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Thurow; four brothers, Paul, Benjamin, Leon “Bud” and Jim; and two sisters, Isabel and Florence.
Visitation was May 5 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.
The funeral was May 6 at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock.
Burial was in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.

Joyce M. Jackson
Joyce M. Jackson, 83, Woodstock, formerly of McHenry, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at her home.
She was born July 14, 1924, in Cadott, Wis., to Edwin and Leona (Sommerfield) Newkirk.
She was a 1942 graduate of McHenry High School and married George J. Jackson April 28, 1943, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry.
She was an employee of Sears Roebuck for nearly 30 years and had assisted her husband in the operation of the pro shop at Prairie Isle Golf Club for 13 years.
She loved playing cards with family and friends, bowling in the old days and an occasional visit to the casino. She was an avid golf fan and would mention to her family the hole-in-one she made on the eighth hole at Woodstock Country Club.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Jackson, Woodstock, and William (Toni) Jackson, Bull Head City, Ariz.; three daughters, Victoria Jackson (Clinton Conway), Flanagan, and Linda (Wayne) Heidtke and Rebecca (Robert) McDaniel, both of Woodstock; 14 grandchildren, Scott Jackson, Michelle (Phillip) Tangorra, Jennifer (Gary) Koch, Jeffrey (Jaime) Croegaert, Jared Croegaert, Leslie Foster, Laurie Barkemeyer (Chris Cowlas), Kellie (Dan) Morse, Brett (Heather) Heidtke, Brad (Stephanie) Heidtke, Chad (Amanda) Heidtke, Malinda (Larry) Logan, Joshua McDaniel (Shannon Quinn) and Alexis (Ken) McArthy; 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Katherine Michelau, Glorice Jackson and Betty Jackson; her brothers-in-law, Edward (Adeline) Jackson and James (Sandra) Jackson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband July 22, 2003; a daughter-in-law, Jayne Houlihan Jackson; a brother, Robert (Beatrice) Newkirk; three brothers-in-law, Ben Michelau, Arthur Jackson and Joe Jackson; and two sisters-in-law, Marie (Berndt) Huntington and Constance (Frank) May.
Visitation was April 28 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The Mass of Christian Burial was April 29 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, with the Rev. Gerald Watt officiating.
Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or Valley Hi Nursing Home.
Albert J. Leslie
Albert J. Leslie, 78, Woodstock, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Baltimore, to Frederick A. and Josephine R. (Broglie) Leslie. He married Betty Marie Anderson July 11, 1960, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Little Falls, Minn.
He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He joined Morton International as a chemical engineer and held various positions at the company until his retirement. He and his wife were world travelers, visiting exotic places such as Africa, Thailand, Hungary, Italy and more. They were avid patrons of the arts and supported the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
He loved to garden and spent many hours cultivating his vegetables and flowers. He was a member of Resurrection Church. As a member of the Friends of the Congregation Fathers, he and his wife were presented the Merit Award for 2005 by the congregation.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Marie (William) Schretzmann, Andrea, Kirsten and Regina; a son, John (Sukhon) Leslie; and his grandchildren, Faith, Rangsiman, Patrick, Methani and Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dolores; and two brothers, Frederick and Joseph.
Visitation was April 27 at Resurrection Church, Woodstock. The funeral Mass was April 28.
Interment was in Calvary Cathloic Cemetery, Woodstock.

Erwin Bauman
Erwin Bauman, 88, Woodstock, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock.
He was born March 12, 1920, in Brazil, to Reinhardt and Clara (Sprung) Bauman.
He was an Army drill sergeant during World War II.
He was an avid fisherman and a big White Sox fan.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters, Dora (Erwin) Schelter, Irma (Emil) Lilja and Frieda (Richard) Vagenknecht; and a brother, Max (Thelma) Bauman.
Service and entombment were private.

Robert H. Reis
Robert H. Reis, 76, Wonder Lake, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry.
He was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Chicago, to Robert and Hazel (Lossman) Reis. He married Marilyn Kenyon Sept. 5, 1955, in Phoenix.
He graduated from St. Ignatius High School, Chicago, and was a 1960 graduate of the University of Arizona. He was a pharmacist for Walgreen’s Pharmacy for more than 47 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Wonder Lake.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Robin (Arthur) Taylor, Wonder Lake, and Rebecca (Larry) Ottesen, Brentwood, Calif.; a son, Robert N. (Dawn) Reis, Wonder Lake; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Rosemary Maser, Danville, and Ruthann (Eugene) Thorncroft, Orlando, Fla.; and a brother, Ronald Reis, Danville.
Visitation was April 28 at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, Richmond. A Mass of Christian Burial was April 29 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Wonder Lake, with the Rev. Steven Sabo officiating. Interment was private.
Thomas M. Carlisle
Thomas M. Carlisle, 62, Woodstock, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Woodstock, to James and Greta (Hutson) Carlisle.
He went into the U.S. Army upon graduation from Marian Central Catholic High School. He served as a helicopter crew chief and gunner during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Army, he worked as a small-engine mechanic and automotive machinist for Butler Auto Parts, Woodstock. He became a carpenter and worked for Carlisle Construction Co.
Survivors include three children, Sherry Carlisle, Jason (Dawn) Carlisle and Carie Carlisle; four grandchildren, Andrew Garza, Tyler Carlisle, Krista McDonnell and Jameson Carlisle; his mother; two brothers, Eugene (Phyliss) Carlisle and Philip (Carol) Carlisle; two sisters, Mary (James) Berkheimer and Bernice (Richard) Nevsimal; his ex-wife, Margaret Carlisle-Cangialosi; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation and the funeral Mass were May 1 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Interment was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Woodstock.

Bobby Dean Cole
Bobby Dean Cole, 32, Woodstock, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock.
He was born Sept. 3, 1975, in Woodstock, to Ronnie L. Cole and Cindy L. (Vermett) Pena.
He worked in construction for many years. He was a tremendous sports fan and was very involved with his family and their sporting events. He also loved music.
Survivors include his father; his mother; a daughter, Alyssa Faye Cole; a son, Bobby Dean Cole Jr.; two brothers, Jesse Dean Vermett and Matthew Cole; a sister, Christine Cole; and the mother of his children, Angel Cole.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Zenith Vela; his paternal grandparents, Ted and Lila Mae Cole; a cousin, Brian Semrau; and his uncle, Patrick Vermett.
Visitation and the funeral were April 30 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock, with the Rev. Jim Campbell presiding. Burial was in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock.

David M. Warren
David M. Warren, 92, Woodstock, formerly of Arlington Heights, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Hearthstone Senior Living Community, Woodstock.
He was born Sept. 6, 1915, in Birmingham, Ala. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Mary), Elgin, and Scott (Kerry), Woodstock; and seven grandchildren, Bradley, Melissa, Daniel, Ashlee, Melanie, Karlee and Chad.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty.
Visitation was May 2 at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, Lake Zurich. The funeral was May 3 at the funeral home. Entombment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
Madaline F. Frame
Madaline F. Frame, 87, Seminole, Fla., formerly of Woodstock, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at her home.
She moved to Florida in 1976. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She enjoyed golfing and volunteering at Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, George W.; two sons, Barry (Nancy), Crossville, Tenn., and Stephen (Diane), Naperville; a daughter, Rhonda (Bill) Winburn, Bagdad, Ky.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Woodstock in June.

Paul B. Murdock Jr.
Paul B. Murdock Jr., 84, Woodstock, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1924, in Chicago, to Paul B. Murdock Sr. and Cora (Gulbranson) Murdock. He married Alice M. Pierson Oct. 19, 1946, at Irving Park Lutheran Church, Chicago.
He served on the USS Hawkbill SS-366 during World War II. He was employed by Illinois Bell and AT&T for 39 years and retired as a transmission engineer in 1983.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5040, Loyal Order of the Moose, Elks, American Legion and the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II. He also was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, ship modeling and golfing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David and Kevin; nine grandchildren, Roger A. Finnie Jr., Shannon Chapman, Peter Finnie, Jennine Bourge, Diana Murdock, David Murdock, Sarah Murdock, Amy Murdock and Erik Murdock; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Murdock; two sisters, Janet Slaminski and Edna Murdock; a son, Paul B. Murdock III; and a daughter, Darlene A. Finnie.
A memorial service was held May 3 at Grace Lutheran Church.

Richard W. Petersen
Richard W. Petersen, 82, Wonder Lake, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at North Chicago Veterans Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1925, in Chicago, to Dr. Thomas G. and Gertrude M. (Christiansen) Petersen. He married Elnora “Toots” Basile Oct. 22, 1954, in McHenry. She died April 27, 2008.
He attended Austin High School in Chicago. He was a member of the Military Police in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, serving with Troop E 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in Asia.
Survivors include three stepchildren, Darlene (Oakes) McKee, Bonnie (Craig) Cone and Thomas Basile; a brother, Arnold Petersen; a sister, Erna Fuller; many stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas.
Services were private.

Elnora F. ‘Toots’ Petersen
Elnora F. “Toots” Petersen, 81, Wonder Lake, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Lincoln Park Hospice, Chicago.
She was born June 22, 1926, in Plainfield, Mich., to Frank and Laura (Pfeiffer) Kubat. She married Richard W. Petersen Oct. 22, 1954, in McHenry.
She loved to collect dolls, received a diploma in doll technology in June 1962 and had her own doll hospital in her home. She also enjoyed gardening and garage sales.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene (Oakes) McKee and Bonnie (Craig) Cone; a son, Thomas Basile; nine grandchildren, Charles (Michelle) Ureche, Ronald (Barbara) Ureche, Celestine Ureche, Tommy Basile, Jessie Basile, Angela (Natha) Green, Vaughn (Tracy) West, Dominic Basile and Ellana Basile; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Frank Kubat; a sister, Donna Lavaty; and a sister-in-law, Erna Fuller.
She was preceded in death by her husband April 25, 2008; her parents; and a sister, Grace Kubat.
Memorials can be made to Seasons Hospice, 606 Potter Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
Services will be private.
