The Woodstock High School girls track and field team finished sixth at the Fox Valley Conference meet held at Crystal Lake South High School Thursday.
The Blue Streaks scored 43 points. CLS finished in first place with 135 points. All 12 teams from the FVC participated.
Sophomore Elise Beattie finished second in the 300-meter run with a time of 11:34.61 and third in the 1600m run with a time of 5:23.51 for the Blue Streaks.
Junior Lisa Kucharski took fourth the 100m hurdle with a time of 16.92 seconds and in the 300m low hurdle with a time of 48.63. She also tied for third place in the pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches.
“I felt my form during the hurdles was good even though I hit a few. It’s because of lack of track time,” said Kucharski. “Last year around this time I was getting personal records, but track time hasn’t helped this year.”
Senior Jackie Weith took fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 6 ½ inches and in the high jump with a height of 5-1.
Allyson Caldwell took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 14-11. Cristina Bravos took third place in the discuss with a throw of 98-8.
In the 400m relay, the team of Kucharski, senior Jackie Weith, Carley Meyers and Sharon Mwale finished sixth with a time of 53.47 seconds.
“There were some good efforts today,” said WHS head coach Steve Erwin. “The girls are coming out with some gutsy performances and that’s getting us points where we didn’t expect it.”
The season, which featured many cancellations and postponements, also reduced the actual time the team got to train on the track and outside.
“The last 100 meters are the toughest for me,” said Angela Loehner, who finished fourth in her heat of the 100m hurdles. “I could have done better but I haven’t had the experience because of meets getting canceled.”
Next up for the girls team will be sectionals. Date, time and location of this event are to be determined.

Boys team wins meet
The Woodstock High School boys track and field team won its meet against Grayslake North High School and Prairie Ridge High School April 28.
The Blue Streaks scored 82 points, PR finished second with 70 and Grayslake North scored 31. WHS took first place in nine of the 18 events.
Sophomore Scott Rausch won the high jump with a height of 5-10.
Junior Zach Shannon won the triple jump with a distance of 37-9 1/2.
Other members of the Streaks team that finished first include Phillip Meyer in the 3200m, Antwane Mace in the 100m dash, Marshall Happ in the 800m and Tyler Voss in the 400m.
The relay teams once again did well for WHS. Derek Busch, Dan Howe, Valentin Medina and Grant Schleich won the 4-by-800m, Roy Mwale, Tyler Gillaspie, Shannon and Chip Humbertson won the 4-by-200m and Rausch, Voss, Busch and Happ won the 4-by-400m.
