Dr. James Harold Wille, 74, formerly of Woodstock, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, in Houston, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 27, 1941, to Harold F. and Edna L. Austin Wille in Hartland.
He married Diana F. Perry Wille in 1964.
He grew up in Woodstock, where he excelled in football, track and basketball. In 1959, during his senior year at Woodstock High School, he played on the varsity football team that won the Illinois North Suburban Conference.
He met his wife in 1961 while attending Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
He completed his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 at the University of Houston, and later completed his Master of Science in Education in 1970 and Doctor of Education in 1981 at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. In 1982 he and his wife were blessed with the birth of their only child, Joshua James Wille.
From 1969 to 1981, he taught accounting and other business subjects at McHenry County College, Crystal Lake, where he was instrumental in developing business curriculum for the newly founded college and served as chairman of the business division for 10 years. He left MCC to establish his own tax preparation and accounting practice, and he and his wife ran a successful business together in Woodstock until retirement in 2000.
During his retirement years in Wisconsin, he enjoyed reading, fishing, boating and watching beautiful sunsets at the family cottage on Lake Sherwood. In 2014, the couple bought a home in the east Texas town of Nacogdoches, where they planned to spend the winter months.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Joshua J. (Stephanie) Wille; a sister, Judy (Ron) Landon; a niece, Tammy (Tim) Sullivan; and a nephew, Todd (Janelle) Landon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peggy L. (Richard) Gehrke; and two nephews, Rick Gehrke and Paul Landon.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
