June M. Noel

June M. Noel, 91, Woodstock, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock.
She was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Dubuque to Mary Ames and was raised in Potosi, Wis., where she attended elementary and high school. She attended the University of Dubuque for one year.
She married John “Jack” E. Noel July 11, 1942, in Dubuque. They lived in Texas for three years while he was in the service.
They moved back to Dubuque and were owners/operators of Noel’s Tavern & Restaurant for 30 years until her husband retired in 1974. They were members of Sacred Heart Church, Dubuque, and charter members of the North End Gun Club.
In 2000, she moved to Woodstock to be closer to her family. She lived at Valley Hi Nursing Home since February 2012.
She will be sadly missed by her family. Her grandchildren remember how she was always quick with a smile or a song and how she made each one of them feel special. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and sing.
Survivors include five daughters, Marylee (Don) Steinwehe, Woodstock, Sara (Jim) O’Riley, Elgin, Kim (Eric) Griffiths, Golden, Colo., Kris (Alan) Benezra, Boulder, Colo., and Julie Noel, Decorah, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Emily (Greg Dixon) Steinwehe, Madison, Wis., John (Ashley Diedrich) Steinwehe, Crystal Lake, Megan (Mike) Brown, Tigard, Ore., Kevin O’Riley, Chicago, Tyler O’Riley, Elgin, Allison Griffiths, Westminster, Colo., Sam Benezra and Hallie Benezra, both of New York City; a great-granddaughter, Eleanor June Brown, Tigard; a great-grandson, Wesley Brown, Tigard; cousins, Winnie Chandler, Hazel Green, Wis., and Jean Collis, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband in February 1979.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. and the service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Egelhof, Siegert, and Casper Funeral Home, Dubuque.  Private burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
