Floyd B. Haroldson

Floyd B. Haroldson, 79, Crystal Lake, died Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Sunrise of Crystal Lake.

He was born Jan. 19, 1936, to John O. and Mary (Mayer) Haroldson in Hennepin, Minn.

On Dec. 29, 1956, he married the love of his life, Henrietta E. Henrys, in Ridgefield.

He worked for American Can Co. as a research scientist for more than 39 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He always enjoyed helping his nieces and nephews on their science projects, loved to tinker and could fix anything – especially cars.

Survivors include a brother, Ronald Haroldson; a sister, Dorothy Haroldson; a sister-in-law, Patricia Henrys; eight nieces and nephews, Julie (Allen) Boelter, Donna Douglas, Diane (Joseph) Hellyer, Donald Swanson, Debbie (Steve) Ehlenburg, Dale (Lori) Swanson, Carol Henrys and Jan (Randy) Sandman; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Arnst Mayer; his wife on Aug. 9, 1996; a brother, John Haroldson; his father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Eleanor Henrys; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Alan (Gladys) Swanson, Alfred Henrys, Alvernon Henrys and Willis Henrys; and a niece, Delores Swanson.

Visitation was June 9 and the funeral was June 10 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home. Burial was at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
