Jeanne Louise Thomfohrda

Jeanne Louise Thomfohrda, 73, formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Parmly Life Pointes Nursing Home, Chisago City, Minn.

She was born Jan. 21, 1941, to John H. and Hazel (Bentsen) Lockinger in Woodstock. 

On Oct. 1, 1960, she married Harry Eugene Thomfohrda.

She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1959. While in Woodstock she worked at the A&W drive-in when roller skates were used to take orders and deliver the food. She also worked at Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator and in the accounting office in Arlington Heights. Shortly after marriage she moved to Wisconsin and for 20 years operated a dairy farm. After farming she moved with her husband to Las Vegas. She worked for Head Start as a secretary for 20 years. 

She loved volunteering and drove for three different agencies. During her time in Wisconsin, she helped to establish a secondhand store to raise money for another charity. She enjoyed Bible study, church services, family and friends get-togethers, travel, eating out, Tops Club, playing cards and crafts.

Survivors include a son, Carl (Lisa) Thomfohrda; a daughter, Penny (Pete) Buchholz; two grandsons, Jacob Thomfohrda and Joshua Buchholz; three granddaughters, Amanda Buchholz,  Brittany and Sierra Thomfohrda; seven siblings, Tim Lockinger, Mary (Brian) Young, John Lockinger, Peter (Merry) Lockinger, Mike Lockinger, Judy Casey and Paul (Sue) Lockinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Gregory and Kenneth Thomfohrda; and a brother, Charles Lockinger.

The visitation and funeral were June 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Burial was at  Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Donations can be made to the family to be given to the Parmly Life Pointes Nursing Home.
