Edward Wallace Lucke Sr.

Edward Wallace Lucke Sr., 86, Woodstock, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 21, 1928, to Charles Bahan and Lois (Wallace) Lucke in Albany, N.Y. 

On June 17, 1950, he married Ellen Vedsman in New York City. They had two children, Edward and Laura. 

After the death of his first wife, he married Cynthia Pearson May 21, 1988, in Park Ridge. They had three children, Catherine, Kimberly and Richard.

He attended the Albany Academy as a cadet. He attended several colleges including Yale, where he was a track athlete, Columbia and the Colorado School of Mines, receiving several degrees including a Master in Engineering. He worked for US Gypsum Co., retiring in 2001 as director of mines and geological services after 46 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, planting trees and having bonfires. He was an avid reader, and he enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Edward W. Lucke Jr., Laura N. Lucke, Catherine J. Lucke, Kimberly R. Lucke and Richard F. Lucke; two grandchildren, Edward W. Lucke III and Brian B. Lucke; and two nephews, Earl Goodrich and Charles Goodrich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife in 1986; a sister, Edwina Goodrich; and a nephew, Hoyt Goodrich.

A memorial gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2018 N. Route 47. All other services will be private.
