William R. Nordlof

William R. Nordlof, 75, Huntley, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.

He was born Aug. 9, 1939, to Ragnar W. and Florence (Sulvan) Nordlof in Chicago.

On Aug. 22, 1964, he married Virginia Schneider in Holland, Mich.

He served in the U.S. Navy. 

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake. He was the owner and CEO of Aeronautical Electric, Chicago. He was an award-winning photographer. He loved to travel across the country by car, especially with his children and, later, with his grandchildren. He admired the beauty of the United States, believing it best seen by car. He stopped at every historical marker, and he would show his family how things happened in history.  He was a model train hobbyist and was very passionate about riding steam trains. He willingly exchanged stories with everybody.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Keith (Teresa) Nordlof; four grandchildren, Steven, Ashley, Carrie and Drew; and a sister, Sally (John) Suermenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Michelle Nordlof; and a sister, Lois Lusk.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Road, Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
