Faith Evelyn Kies, 16, Woodstock

Faith Evelyn Kies, 16, Woodstock, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was born Dec. 2, 1999, to Stormy and Sue (Kavanagh) Kies in McHenry.

She was a sophomore at Woodstock North High School where she was an honor roll student who held herself to very high standards, insisting that she receive A’s in every class. She participated in many school activities. She worked on the school play last semester by preparing the props for every performance. 

She was on the track and field team at school, and she enjoyed running other 5K events with her family for fun. She enjoyed being an office assistant at the high school because she liked to help people, and she always did so with a loving spirit and a caring charm. She was a true artist in many ways, and she was exceptionally gifted with talent. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her parents; three siblings, Windy Kies, Savannah Kies and Connor Kies; her paternal grandmother, Patricia Kies; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Judith Kavanagh; two aunts, Amanda (Mike) Kies Rivero and Trina Kavanagh; a niece, Catherine Kies; and a cousin, Micah Rivero.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Kenneth Kies; and an aunt, Georgiana Kavanagh.

The visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.  The visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, until the funeral at 11a.m. at the Free Methodist Church, 934 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.  Burial will be at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock.

Memorials can be made to the family for designation at a later date.
