Regina Ann Stewart

Regina Ann Stewart, 88, Woodstock, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born Sept. 24, 1928, to Gerald and Anna Slattery in Chicago. 

On April 27, 1956, she married Thomas Stewart in Chicago.

She worked at Illinois Bell Telephone for more than 30 years until her retirement in 1982. She continued working at Stewart’s Cleaners in Woodstock with her husband, Tom. She was an avid reader and talented at crocheting, but she was best known for her quick wit. 

She enjoyed camping trips, the beach, shopping and a good bingo game. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. She and her husband spent many years of retirement in Arizona and Florida enjoying the sun, sand, family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Stewart and Dan (Michelle) Stewart; three daughters, Denise Brown, Donna (J.W.) Rice and Dale (Barry Vermett) Stewart; five grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Hamilton, Tony (Jessica) Brown, Brandy (Jeremy Fruend) Brown, Hunter Stewart, Konrad Stewart and Talia Stewart; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton, Casey Brown, KyLee Brown, Lexxy Brown and Hayden Brown; a sister, Arlene Rivera; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings, Gerald (Marge) Slattery and Lorraine (Mickey) Sykora; a brother-in-law, Tom Rivera; a son-in-law, Timothy Brown; and an infant son, Donald Stewart.

A memorial gathering will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, until the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. A private burial will take place in Richmond Township Cemetery.
