Robert L. Foerster, 81, Woodstock

Robert L. Foerster, 81, Woodstock, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at JourneyCare Hospice Center, Woodstock.

He was born May 30, 1934, to John and Alberta (Able) Foerster. 

On May 12, 1956, he married LaVerne Bornhoff in Northbrook. 

He was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church, Woodstock. He and his wife moved to Woodstock in 1963 and raised their children on Walnut Ridge Farm on Greenwood Road. He was passionate about farming and enjoyed it until 1976 when he changed careers and pursued another passion, being an independent over-the-road trucker. He retired from that successful business in 1993 and returned to his first love, farming, working at Harms Farm. 

He and his wife enjoyed a full life together, traveling in their motor home crisscrossing the lower 48 U.S. states and into Canada and Alaska, making many friends along the way. He had a very outgoing personality and was able to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Jeffery (Marla) Foerster, Richard (Laure) Foerster and Cynthia (David) Huff-Kasischke; six grandchildren, Benjamin (Sylvia) Foerster, Meghan (Brian) Laine, Timothy (Gail) Foerster, Kevin (Emily) Foerster, Rebeckah (Jarrad) Webster and Jessica Huff; and six great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and his in-laws, Harold and Alice Bornhoff.

The visitation was Jan. 3 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock, and the funeral was Jan. 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Interment was private.
