Agnes M. Hess, 85, Woodstock

Agnes M. Hess, 85, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock. 

She was born July 25, 1931, to Martin and Cordella (Wagner) Obenauf. 

On Oct. 24, 1953, she married Robert E. Hess in Huntley. 

She was a dedicated woman of Christian faith. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock, where she was very active in Bible study groups and the prayer group. 

She also attended the Woodstock Assembly of God Church. She was a dedicated mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She most enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids and sharing her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies with them.  

Survivors include 12 children, Pat (Terry) Menzel, Jean (Jim) Mackel, Joan (Bill) Jarvis, Bob Hess, Peggy Hess, Dan (Janette) Hess, Carol (Chuck) Vitellaro, Don (Allison) Hess, Lois (Jeff) Gates, Jim (Stacey) Hess, Janet (Steve) Stocks and Julie (Jim) Brucker; a daughter-in-law, Lori Hess; 24 grandchildren, Mark, Katie, Kelly, Adam, Andy, Christopher, Jennifer, Renee, David, Brian, Matt, Tony, Joey, Dunn, Kinch, Luke, Rachel, Kyle, Brianna, Melissa, Bradley, Ben, Jacob and Kaley; 15 great-grandchildren; six siblings, Mary (Larry) Emricson, Pat Obenauf, Louise (Leroy) Fitzgerald, Jerome (Monica) Obenauf, Judy (Dave) Frohling and Jim (Ammie) Obenauf; a sister-in-law, Jackie Obenauf; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2008; and a brother, Martin Obenauf.

Visitation was Sept. 2 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. A funeral Mass was held Sept. 3 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. 

Interment was at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock.
