Barbara J. Hansing

Hansing, 79, Woodstock, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at JourneyCare Inpatient Hospice Unit, Woodstock.

She was born March 17, 1935, to Otto and Pearl (Hoeft) Wirth, in Ridgeland, Wis.

She lived in the Woodstock area for more than 60 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She earned a General Education Development certificate from McHenry County College in October 1977 and a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from MCC in July 1997. She was proud of these accomplishments. She worked at Harvard Hospital in the early ‘60s, and, in 1997, she worked in the home health field as a CNA. She worked as a plastic molder for many years and also at the Illinois Unemployment Office as a part-time phone receptionist.

She enjoyed fishing, reading and playing cards, especially pinochle. She was proud her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved to play this friendly and usually competitive game. She looked forward to family gatherings and the family reunions at her brother Allan’s home.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelia (Wayne) Beu, Woodstock; a son David (Sandy) Siedschlag, Hart, Mich.; five grandchildren, Stacy (Tom) Peck, Westminster, Colo., Amy (Ted) Tallefson, Muskegon, Mich., Heather Miller, Mount Dora, Fla., Jason (Leslie) Beu, Littleton, Colo., and Regan (Phillip) Robertson, Arvada, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren, Emma and Arianna Miller, Ryan and Connor Peck, Tyler Tallefson, Ethan Beu, Annabelle and Libby Robertson and a new great-grandchild due at the end of August; two sisters, Alexa Feezel, Woodstock, and Janice Lehman, Athelstance, Wis.; a brother, Allan (Maria) Wirth, New Berlin, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard Townsend in 1961; her husband Robert Hansing in 1979; and a brother, Franklin Wirth.

The visitation was Aug. 15, and the funeral was Aug. 16 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. 

Memorials can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 401 St. John’s Road, Woodstock, to the parking lot fund or to Journeycare Hospice.
