WPD Seeks ID Help in Fatal Hit-and-RunEdit Module
Woodstock Police are trying to locate the driver of a red car who they believe fatally struck a pedestrian March 30.
At 9:48 p.m., WPD and Woodstock Fire/Rescue District crews responded to the intersection of Highway 14 and Lake Shore drive for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
The victim was identified by McHenry County Coroner’s office as Daniel P. Anderson, 43, of Woodstock. Anderson was located unconscious in the roadway when crews arrived and transported by WFRD to Centegra Hospital - Woodstock, where he was pronounced deceased.
Approximately one minute prior to the report of the crash, WPD received a report of a male subject matching the description of Anderson walking eastbound in the westbound traffic lane along Highway 14.
The Major Crash Investigation Team (MCAT), which consists of trained traffic and accident investigators, was activated to assist with the scene. After review of video surveillance and other evidence gathered at the scene, WPD is currently trying to identify a red sedan of unknown make or model. Police had been looking for a pickup truck but now believe that vehicle was not involved.
