Duane W. “Dewey” McDonald

Duane W. “Dewey” McDonald, 79, Woodstock, died Sunday, May 3, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 11, 1936, to Arthur and Ardis (Householder) McDonald in Germantown, Wis.  On Jan. 20, 1962, he married Lorraine Schmarje in Belvidere.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  

He worked as a machinist for the Woodstock Autolite and Union Special in Huntley.  He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.  He enjoyed bowling, playing darts and going fishing.  He was an active member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge, and he was always there to lend a hand.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice McDonald; a son, Rodney McDonald; three stepdaughters, Denice (Jim) Burnett, Nadine (Jim) Krause and Roxane (Bill) Dicken; his longtime companion Linda Coss; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim McDonald and Larry McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Dale McDonald.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, with a 7 p.m. funeral at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave.  Entombment will be private at McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodstock. 

Memorials can be made to the Woodstock Moose Lodge or to Sage Cancer Center in McHenry.
