Blue Streaks tennis defeats Woodstock North 5-2
On a cool spring afternoon, the Woodstock High School tennis team continued its dominance of crosstown rivals Woodstock North High School. The tennis teams took center stage April 2 as the host Blue Streaks defeated the Thunder 5-2 extending their win streak over the Thunder to three years.
In singles play, foreign exchange students Agustin Araujo and Jannik Barthelme from WHS defeated their counterparts Luke Versten and Ben Bradley from WNHS 6-0, 6-2. The Thunders’ Ryan Wade defeated the Streaks Ryan Redemske 6-3. 6-4.
The only match to go three sets occurred in the No. 1 doubles play as Kevin Lara and Jimmy Kraft from WHS defeated Mitch Laabs and Ryan Langreck from WNHS 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Gabriel Klinefelter and Ian Ordonez from WHS defeated Jordan Plummer and Kenji Kuroda 6-4, 7-5 in No. 2 doubles play.
In No. 3 doubles play, the Thunder’s Andrew Rousonelos and Zane Moser defeated Blue Streaks Sumner Price and Alex Esparza 6-4, 6-4. Jack Fischbach and Mason Sutter from WHS defeated Marko Zovikic and Nick Julian 6-2, 6-1 from WNHS in No. 4 doubles play.
